The discipline of Applied Economics is a first-class discipline cultivated by the university. It offers two undergraduate programs: International Economics and Trade (a provincial first-class construction program) and Financial Engineering. It also has a Master's degree program in International Business and the Zhejiang Ecological Civilization Research Institute, which is a key new-type think tank in Zhejiang Province. The discipline has developed a stable academic tradition and disciplinary culture in four core sub-disciplines: Energy and Ecological Economics, International Trade, Finance, and Regional and Urban Economics.
The discipline boasts a faculty team led by renowned professors from provincial universities, with 35 full-time teachers. Among them, there is one recipient of the Ministry of Education's New Century Talents Project, eight professors, eight associate professors, 28 Ph.D. holders, one overseas adjunct professor, and one full-time foreign teacher. The discipline has established four teaching and research teams: Ecological Economic Theory and Policy, International Trade and Environment, Green Financial Innovation and Risk Management, and Regional Economic Theory and Practice.
Through close cooperation with well-known domestic and international universities, governments, and enterprises in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services, the discipline engages in activities such as innovation and entrepreneurship training, disciplinary competitions, social practice, policy research, and international exchanges. It aims to create an integrated education model that combines science and education, industry and education, and competition-driven learning. The discipline strives to cultivate high-level talents with innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities in the fields of ecological economics, trade, finance, and other areas that are urgently needed for economic and social development in an international context.
